Family Get Away to Colorado

We took a family trip to Colorado in February. Originally Dan and I had planned the trip as a get away for just the two of us. A couple of days before we left we surprised the kids and told them that it would be a family trip. It was our Valentine gift to them. We had such a great time! The time we spend with our children is priceless. We love to watch our children experience new places and things. With Dan being such an avid skier it thrills him to see how his children have taken to the ski slopes. I did not do any skiing - it is just not my thing. Although next trip I am determined to try it again.
We stayed the night with Christine and Chris on our way back home. Sadly we did not take any pictures. It was nice visiting with them on their home turf. Thanks guys.

Jared's Fun in Colorado

Yes that is Jared behind the ski mask. The only pictures I have of Jared without the mask is when he was in the swimming pool. He and Dan enjoyed skiing the slopes together. I am now willing to bet that Jared has surpassed my skiing skills. He spent two good long days skiing with his dad. On the third day we all went sledding at a local public park. Jared and Lexi loved going off the jump at the bottom of the hill. He also brought along his skateboard (minus the wheels) to see if he could stay on it. I asked Jared what his favorite part of the trip was and he said "Skiing...Hello". What was I thinking for even asking such a silly question?

Jamie All Smiles...Most of the Time

Jamie really took to skiing. She was the one we were most worried about when we found out she and Lexi could not be in the same ski school class. Jamie absolutely loved her ski class. The full day of skiing completely exhausted her which made her a little grumpy at the end of the day. However, she was the one the next morning trying to get us out the door so she wouldn't be late. She was a little more hesitant with the sledding. She did NOT like going off the jump. She really let her dad have it when he steered her towards it. I asked her what her favorite part of the ski trip was and she quickly responded by saying "definitely not the driving!" (When we head out on a driving adventure- we do not stop. I really should say Dan does not stop. We do stop to get food...in a drive thru. We also let them do a potty break.... when it is time to gas up. I don't quite understand why she does not see it as fun? I love it!)
Jamie did say her favorite part of the trip was ski school. I'm glad she had such a good time!

Lexi loves Snow!

Lexi went to ski school the first day. She was a little nervous and cried a little bit when we dropped her off but when we picked her up she was very proud of herself. She said it was a lot of fun. The second day she decided she wanted to spend the day with me. We had snow ball fights, made snow angels, and rode the gondola into town. She even found my phone after it had been lost in the snow for about 20 minutes. Her favorite part of the trip was the sledding and the heated pool.

Fun with my new Camera

I am loving the camera I got for Christmas. I just had to add a few sequence shots from our trip. It's almost like watching a video. Click on the collage to enlarge the photos so you can see the pictures better. The picture of Jared and Lexi catching air is my favorite. If you look close enough you can see snow flying off the front of the sled.
The shots of Dan on the skateboard (with no wheels) are priceless as well. He is such a cool dad...even if he crashed hard!
