First day of School 2008

Welcome back to school! Jared is now in 4th grade and Jamie is now a 2nd grader! How did this happen? Where did all the time go!

Jamie was "talked into" playing softball this season. The last (and only) team sport she tried was soccer. She was 4 and really did not like it. Many tears were shed. This time it was strategically planned. She already knew most of the girls who were going to be on the team. It was a brand new team and everyone was learning and basically at the same skill level. She has friends from church and from school on the team.

So far so good! She is really enjoying it. She tries hard and is constantly smiling. Other girls seem to be hard on themselves if they don't do as well as they would like. Not Jamie, she strikes out with a smile on her face. Her coach tells her she would be able to swing harder if she didn't have such big smile on her face while she watched the ball. She does not seem to see it as a competitive sport- which is fine! I am just pleased to see her finding such joy in trying new things.

Jamie went to a birthday party (Arianna Tolbert) and Lori taught all of the girls how to tie a quilt for their American girl dolls. Jamie is hooked! She decided to take one of her old baby blankets and tie all around the edges.

Jamie is also working on her first latch hook project! I remember my first (and only come to think of it) latch hook. I made a butterfly pillow.

We made another lake house trip. Jamie sat and watched her Aunt Hillary and Aunt Christine work on their sewing projects. When we got home Jamie wanted to "do some sewing". I need to send her to her Aunt's and Mema's houses for sewing lessons. I try to help her but sewing is just not my thing. My little girl is growing up!

Ice Skating Fun!

Aunt Lisa, Kychelle Chino, and I decided to take our kids ice skating. They all did great! My kids did not need my help at all. I suppose all the laps around the kitchen island in roller blades payed off! Lexi fell a ton but she was determined to do it on her own. It was a love hate thing for Connor- he cried when he was on the ice and he cried when he got off the ice. It was a lot of fun! They are ready to go back with Dad to show him how well they skate.
